Understanding the structure and composition of Afro textured hair is crucial for effective haircare. Afro textured hair has a unique shape, characterized by tight curls or coils.
The hair shaft is often flat or elliptical, which makes it more prone to tangling and breakage. Additionally, the hair cuticle, the outermost layer of the hair shaft, is often raised, leading to increased porosity and moisture loss.
To address these challenges, individuals with Afro textured hair should focus on moisturizing and sealing techniques, such as deep conditioning and using natural oils.
