About the Course
COS 102 – Afro-Textured Haircare & Treatment provides students with a foundational understanding of healthy textured hair maintenance and care practices. This course explores: * proper cleansing and conditioning, * detangling methods, * moisture retention techniques, * scalp care, * product knowledge, * protective styling, * and healthy hair maintenance for Afro-textured hair. Students will also learn how hair behavior, porosity, ingredients, and styling practices affect overall hair health, manageability, and length retention. This course was designed to help bridge the educational gap in texture-inclusive haircare education while promoting healthy, informed, and client-centered practices.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Gladys Afolayan is the Founder and Lead Educator of Kulture Institute of Cosmetology in Calgary, Alberta. With over 20 years of experience in textured haircare, hairstyling, braiding, colour services, and cosmetology education, Gladys is passionate about advancing texture-inclusive beauty education in Canada. Her work focuses on helping students confidently understand Afro-textured hair while preserving hair integrity, professionalism, and cultural understanding within the beauty industry.
