Gladys Afolayan is the Founder and Lead Educator of Kulture Institute of Cosmetology in Calgary, Alberta. With over 20 years of experience in Afro-textured hairstyling, braiding, colour services, and cosmetology education, Gladys is passionate about advancing texture-inclusive beauty education in Canada. Her work focuses on helping students confidently understand textured hair while preserving hair integrity, professionalism, and cultural awareness within the beauty industry.

About the Course
COS 103 – Afro Natural Hairstyling (Zero-Heat Styling) teaches students how to confidently style Afro-textured hair without relying on excessive heat. Students will learn: * curl definition techniques, * twist-outs, * braid-outs, * bantu knots, * protective styling, * moisture-preserving styling methods, * sectioning, * tension control, * and styling techniques that support healthy hair maintenance. This course was designed to help students understand how to work with natural textures while preserving hair integrity, reducing breakage, and promoting healthy styling practices.
