COS 104 – Afro Silk Press & Advanced Heat Styling teaches students how to professionally perform silk press and advanced heat styling services on Afro-textured hair while maintaining healthy hair practices. Students will learn: * heat protection methods, * product layering, * blow-drying techniques, * silk press execution, * flat iron control, * finishing techniques, * humidity management, * and methods used to preserve hair integrity during heat styling. This course was created to help students confidently achieve smooth, polished, long-lasting results while understanding the science behind heat application and hair protection.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Gladys Afolayan (Calgary based) is a Afro Texture hair educator with over 20 years of industry experience. She is nationally recognized for her skill and creativity as a braiding and hair colour specialist. A certified and licensed cosmetology instructor and entrepreneur Gladys partnered with the Alberta provincial government to develop Canada’s first accredited Afro-textured hair curriculum to close the gap in the current education. As the founder of Kulture Beauty Collective and the Kulture Institute of Cosmetology, Gladys is passionate about creating inclusive experiences and interactions between stylists and clients from different cultural backgrounds.
