About the Course
Kulture Institute of Cosmetology provides structured Afro-textured hair education rooted in safety, professionalism, and real-world salon application. This course teaches students how to approach chemical relaxing services responsibly while protecting hair integrity and scalp health. Students will learn: * professional consultation methods * scalp and strand analysis * relaxer safety procedures * chemical processing control * healthy straightening practices * risk prevention and corrective awareness The focus is not simply straightening hair — but understanding when, why, and how relaxer services should be safely performed. Learning Format Students will: * Learn foundational theory through structured lessons * Observe professional demonstrations * Practice application methods step-by-step * Work on mannequins and/or live models under supervision * Receive instructor feedback and correction * Develop consultation and safety decision-making skills

Gladys Afolayan is a licensed cosmetology instructor and Afro-texture hair educator with more than 20 years of industry experience specializing in textured hair education, braiding, and professional chemical services. As founder of Kulture Beauty Collective and Kulture Institute of Cosmetology, Gladys helped develop Canada’s first accredited Afro-textured hair curriculum in partnership with the Alberta provincial government. Her mission is to create inclusive beauty education that prepares students for real-world textured hair services with confidence, professionalism, and cultural competency.
