Gladys Afolayan (Calgary based) is a Afro Texture hair educator with over 20 years of industry experience. She is nationally recognized for her skill and creativity as a braiding and hair colour specialist. A certified and licensed cosmetology instructor and entrepreneur Gladys partnered with the Alberta provincial government to develop Canada’s first accredited Afro-textured hair curriculum to close the gap in the current education. As the founder of Kulture Beauty Collective and the Kulture Institute of Cosmetology, Gladys is passionate about creating inclusive experiences and interactions between stylists and clients from different cultural backgrounds.

This course covers: 1. Introduction to Shellac and gel nail systems 2. Nail anatomy and preparation 3. Product knowledge and system differences 4. Step-by-step Shellac application:     1.  Nail preparation     2. Base coat application     3. Color layering     4. Top coat sealing     5. Curing process 5. Gel enhancement basics:     1. Structure building     2. Apex formation     3. Layering techniques 6. UV/LED curing science and polymerization 7. Common application mistakes and corrections 8. Safe removal techniques (soak-off process) 9. Maintenance and client aftercare Learning Format: 1. Theory-based instruction 2. Live demonstrations 3. Guided practical sessions 4. Instructor feedback and correction Students will: 1.  Nail preparation and cuticle work 2. Full Shellac application from start to finish 3. Gel layering and structure building 4. Proper curing techniques 5. Safe and professional removal process
